blocks_image APTECH's Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodology and Risk Directed Mechanical Integrity Program (RDMIPTM) software continues to expand and grow as companies around the world experience the benefits associated with our world class RBI system. The program is used on all continents by large and medium sized refineries, petrochemical, and chemical facilities.

APTECH began developing RBI technology and RBI software tools in the mid 1990’s and offer one of the leading software products in the field.

The APTECH Risk Based Inspection system is in compliance with recognized industry guidelines and practices, such as API 580. In addition to this, APTECH personnel are familiar and experienced with several RBI approaches and methodologies. This includes API, Tischuk, and RDMIP software and methodologies as well as inspection management programs such as UltraPipe and PCMS. APTECH personnel are also familiar with RCM programs, SAP, and Meridian. APTECH is currently developing tools in order to link corrosion rate data from UltraPipe or PCMS with RBI inspection planning software.

Capabilities

APTECH maintains a staff of recognized experts in Risk Based Inspection (RBI), Fitness for Service, Corrosion & Metallurgy, Mechanical Integrity and Process Safety Management. The Houston office has completed over 30 RBI projects worldwide for different clients using a variety of methodologies.

APTECH provides RBI software, training, reviews and support for in-house RBI programs. We also provide all personnel necessary to complete a full RBI analysis program turnkey. Experience has shown that this is usually the quickest and cheapest approach when all internal costs are considered. We normally suggest that clients begin with a pilot study of approximately 100-200 pressure vessels. The approach would be to complete a RBI analysis, and to then evaluate the results, and benefits to the plant. Adjustments can be made as necessary along with a more definitive cost estimate. Benefits from a RBI program include improved mechanical integrity with better identification of probable damage mechanisms at work. The appropriate inspection program can then be developed to manage them. Plants with current RBI programs also report an $8 to $20 return on their investment for every dollar spent to establish the program. This return is the result of improved inspection definition and associated labor and plant downtime cost benefits. APTECH has also worked with several clients to assist them with turnaround planning using a risk based approach.
