APTECH began developing Risk Based Inspection technology and software tools in the mid 1990’s and offer one of the leading software products in the field. The APTECH RBI system is in compliance with recognized industry guidelines and practices, such as API 580. The software has been benchmarked with results from the API software and these results have been published in RBI Reduces Turnaround Cost Oil & Gas Journal, May 2000. The program is in use in over 30 chemical plants and refineries world wide.


The software itself has over 1,600 chemicals and 70 damage mechanisms in a proprietary database. The software calculates a consequence and likelihood of failure, and risk ranks equipment items, or sub-components. Vessels and attached piping can be analyzed down to a circuit or sub-component level. Custom reporting of results allows the user to define key parameters and develop in house inspection plans and reports.
